1. This article shows just how out of touch some journalists are with the current state of internet technology. Some of their suggestions for “saving” journalism follow:

    • Make search engines (Google) negotiate copyright with content holders for any websites crawled. Of course, Google will likely just de-list your site rather than paying you to list your content… I wonder who will lose there?
    • Expand the definition of copyright so holders can litigate even more broadly than now. Aren’t journalists supposed to be for fair use?
    • Eliminate ownership restriction and grant anti-trust exemption. Excuse me for thinking that a world where all news doesn’t come from News Corp is a good thing

    Did I mention, they’d also like a federal bailout - just like the banks. If these two have their way, the journalists will start by forming the JIAA and then continue by litigating themselves into irrelevancy.
