Cello Recital
Come one, come all to my cello recital tonight at 6:30 at String Connection. It’s my first public performance since starting playing a little over 2 years ago. Be warned, it’s likely to be long with a fair number of little kids playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Lightly Row. Hope to see you there!

Today's Ride
Got in 80 miles today (well 79.7, but I’m bumping up 0.3 miles due to a few stretches on gravel and what must be the worst paved road in all of Michigan). Rode with Mike the entire way, with Matt on the first 50 and Becky on the last 30. Thankfully the wind wasn’t nearly as strong as last week. If things stay on schedule, I may be doing 100 miles in early June, but that mostly...

Chain Breaking Blues
If anyone has any idea how to break a KMC K710SL chain (with hollow pins), please let me know - the chain tool isn’t working and I’m getting desperate. In other news - if I could just pull a link out of this chain, all my fixed gear upgrades would be complete.

Seriously, Why?
Can anyone even begin to explain what sort of thinking generates this? catch (SQLException e) { throw new Exception(e.getMessage()); } Sigh…

Beware the Grid Bugs
I’ve been playing NetHack for over an hour… and I’m not dying every five minutes - in fact, I’ve found a shop keeper, I’ve bought some things, I’ve fed my kitten, and I think I just found the entrance to the gnomish mines. I wonder how long this’ll last?

Angband Screensaver
For all you roguelike fans, check out the Angband Borg Screensaver. This screensaver plays Angband while you are idle. You’ll need a copy of Angband 3.0.9 (and you’ll need to run it once in non-screensaver mode before it all works).

Laws That Could Save (Kill) Journalism →
This article shows just how out of touch some journalists are with the current state of internet technology. Some of their suggestions for “saving” journalism follow: Make search engines (Google) negotiate copyright with content holders for any websites crawled. Of course, Google will likely just de-list your site rather than paying you to list your content… I wonder who will...

I installed a new RiBMo front tire and new MKS GR9 pedals on the Clockwork today - still need to install the new rear cog, chain, and back tire. Too late for a test ride - I’m off to bed.

A Brief, Incomplete, and Mostly Wrong History of... →
My Favorite (I tend to think anything bashing C++ is funny, however): 1983 - Bjarne Stroustrup bolts everything he’s ever heard of onto C to create C++. The resulting language is so complex that programs must be sent to the future to be compiled by the Skynet artificial intelligence. Build times suffer. Skynet’s motives for performing the service remain unclear but spokespeople...

Giant spiders invade Australian Outback town →
Only posted because, I swear, I added Radioactive to the title in my mind. I’d actually like to see Night of the Lepus Part II: Lepus vs. Spider, with DeForest Kelley reprising his role. Did he ever NOT play a doctor of some sort?

What I have learned from science fiction →
This could explain why I’ll always have a soft spot for campy 50s and 60s Sci-Fi. I should go home and watch “This Island Earth” again - then watch the MST3K version. Anyone know where my Interocitor is?

@AdamKruth: @artlogic: Please read “Head First HTML” before asking me HTML questions… please? I can’t even think of a HTML question to ask you, let alone understand anything about it. I don’t even know exactly what it is! This brings to mind a very interesting question… can anyone actually explain HTML (as semantic markup) in a tweet (140 chars)? To someone without prior knowledge?
