Just when you think there’s some semblance of sanity in JavaScript:
In Internet Explorer in HTML, Opera in HTML or XHTML and Safari in HTML, all elements with an id attribute are mapped to objects in the global script scope (ie. as properties of window).

"Choose Your Own Adventure" On Your iPhone →
I spent countless hours with “Choose Your Own Adventure” books. Of course, many of those hours were spent mapping out the decision tree and finding easter eggs in the books… it’s entirely likely that these books are the reason why I never had any problems with trees in my data structures class.

SSH to the Rescue!
I’m trying to build WebKit on Windows (don’t ask). The instructions are fairly good, but the environment takes forever to setup, the code base is huge, so SVN takes forever to check it out, and finally the build takes quite a long time as well. What started as a “quick” project quickly turned into 5-6 hours of tweaking things on a platform I don’t especially like to...

Binary Search
After reading Are you one of the 10% of programmers who can write a binary search?, I decided to find out if I was. Here’s my submission (written in about 30 minutes in python):

data = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16]
